3 Types of Heavy Duty Skates for Handling Heavy Equipment
When there’s heavy lifting to do and the load is beyond anything your employees can handle, is there a solution beyond renting a forklift? The answer is yes, and it comes in a much smaller package than a construction vehicle.
Heavy duty skates for machines can be placed under heavy loads to guide them along smooth paths. When skates are in place, moving insanely heavy loads becomes very possible. Machine skates are capable of moving all types of machinery, and they range in weight capacities from 1 ton to around 100 tons per skate.
If you’re in the market for heavy duty skates, here is a quick rundown of the products we offer that may be right for your situation.
Heavy Duty Skates For Heavy Equipment
Moving large machines by crane and forklift will cost you a lot more than investing in skates. But which kind is the best for your situation? Here are some of the skates we offer at Hevi-Haul.
Compact Swivel Skates for Lighter Loads
The weight capacity for these types of skates ranges from 1.5 to 12.5 tons per skate. As with all of our skates, the compact swivel can use steel rollers or polyurethane-coated rollers. Which is right for you depends on the surface on which your equipment will be used.
The compact swivel skates have full directional control, eliminating the need to move in straight lines. They provide full stability thanks to friction plates, and they eliminate the need for locking mechanisms.
Utility Skates for Medium Loads
Our versatile utility skates each have a weight capacity of 37.5 tons and are perfect for moving machinery in straight lines or with turns. The rollers can be removed so that they can be replaced with steel or polyurethane-coated rollers, depending on your needs.
Straight Line Skates for Heavy Loads
Sometimes the best method for moving especially large machinery is to stick to straight, designated paths. Our straight line skates are meant for this transference, with each skate having an individual weight capacity of up to 100 tons.
These skates are unique because of how low they are to the ground (while still being optimally functional). The lower position makes the lifting and setting down of large machinery that much easier and accessible.
That isn’t to say that you have to purchase them for extremely heavy loads. In fact, these skates come in long, short, and slim models to accommodate your needs. And each skate is designed with a wide stance to evenly distribute weight and offer stability.
